Safeguarding Against the Coronavirus COVID-19
Health & Comfort Home Care is committed to ensuring the safety and health of our employees and patients.
- Health & Comfort will not perform PCS on patients known or suspected to have COVID-19 Coronavirus.
- All employees or patients with known or suspected to have COVID-19 Coronavirus must undergo a COVID-19 screening at a local hospital. Anyone who fails the screening should inform the Agency.
- Patients and their members with known or suspected to have COVID-19 must stay home except to get medical care, and inform the PCP/Physicians, the Agency right away.
- Health & Comfort is working with all referring providers to request they do not send patients known or suspected of having the COVID- 19 Coronavirus to our office.
We encourage all patients and employees to take these everyday preventive actions:
- Avoid close contact with those who are sick
- Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose and mouth
- Stay home when you are sick
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using cleaning sprays or wipes. Clean and disinfect your home to remove germs: practice routine cleaning of frequently touched surfaces-tables, doorknobs, light switches, handles, desks, toilets, faucets, sinks and cell phones. To the extent possible, avoid touching high-touch surface in public places, like elevator buttons, door handles, handrails, and handshaking with people. Use a tissue or your sleeve to cover your hand or finger if you must touch something.
- Clean your hands often. If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after being out in public, blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
Extra cautions with crowds and travel:
Avoid crowds, especially in poorly ventilated spaces. Your risk of exposure to respiratory viruses like COVID-19 may increase in crowded, closed-in setting with little air circulation if there are people in the crowd who are sick.
The CDC recommends that you defer all cruise ship travel worldwide, particularly if you also have underlying health issues.
Older adults and travelers with underlying health issues should avoid situations that put you at increased risk for more severe disease. In addition to avoiding crowded places, you should avoid non-essential travel such as long plane trips, and especially avoiding embarking on cruise ship.
Preparing for healthcare needs:
Be sure you have over-the-counter medicines and medical supplies to treat fever and other symptoms. Most people will be able to recover from COVID-19 at home.
